Would you trust him to tell the truth?

Would you trust a criminal? Edward Snowden is an American whistleblower. He copied and leaked confidential information from the NSA and published it online. Edward Snowden has been regarded as a hero to some and criminal to others. How do we know we can trust him to keep a secret? Edward Snowden risked the lives of many people when he leaked information regarding the injustice of the NSA. Snowden began working for the NSA in 2006. He was suspected of leaking information in 2009 so he left and began working for a private subcontractor. During his years of IT work, he began to copy documents. Eventually, in 2013 he told his NSA supervisor that he needed a leave of absence for a medical reason, instead, he went to China and began to plan to leak vital NSA information. Snowden planned to hide in Ecuador but got stuck in a Russian airport because his passport was annulled. The Russian government denied requests made by the U.S. to extradite Snowden, so Snowden remains in Russia. Snowden violated the espionage act and stole government property. However, He told Americans the truth. We were being watched and spied on by our own government and without our consent. Edward Snowden did what others were too afraid to do. He told the truth about the cyber attacks and hacking that was done by our own government. Edward Snowden knew what was happening and he did not stand by and watch. He didn’t keep his mouth shut and pretend that what the NSA was doing was righteous. Although he broke the law, he did it for the right reasons. I would trust him because he protected our rights. Edward Snowden was brave, intelligent, and fair.
